PRESS RELEASE:

Performance artist James Jackson, Jr. is back at the East Village burlesque mainstay, Duane Park, at 308 Bowery between Bleecker and Houston Streets (home of the former Bowery Poetry Club) hosting a new monthly event entitled “Last Tuesday…” Boasting some of the hottest cabaret artists, musicians, and live performances New York City has to offer, each showcased and sharing the stage with Mr. Jackson as host for the evening.

This month’s guest is Bridget Barkan. Bridget is a true artist. Born and raised in New York City, her raw, vibrant talent & soulful vintage sound pulsates in every story & song she shares. Her music is honest, emotional and universal, singing of new love, lost love, love for self and love for the world.  This redhead siren’s old school, bluesy sarcasm fills the room with laughter as her search for meaning & wisdom can bring the crowd to tears.

Just off tour, performing worldwide with glam/pop band Scissor Sisters who opened for Lady Gaga, Bridget has worked with various producers & artists including House music legend Todd Terry for the dance singles “Brighter Days” and “Suga Free,” creating sparks on the inter webs & the dance floor.

With a band lead by handsome piano man extraordinaire Elliot Roth, and a story lead with James’ unrivaled sass, this team has cooked up a brew that is bound to bring Duane Park to it’s knees once again.

Hey errrrrybody!!!....

I'm tickled pink!!

Rafael Roman Entertainment/Springfield Pride AND Westfield State Alumni are having an utterly fabulous event...

The 2013 TWIST Martini & Music Bash on Friday, May 31st starting at 10PM at Shakago Martini & Piano Bar in Springfield, Massachusetts.

And I'm doing a special performance with my #1 piano superstar, Elliot Roth from 11PM-12:30AM.

I'm thrilled to be performing in one of my absolute favorite areas of New England.  This is where it all began, kids.  I'm only there for one night, so I'm hoping all you Western Mass folks get to come out.  I'd love to see you all!!  It's been WAY too long!!!

Oh, hey..... AND IT'S FREE!!!!!  They've got food, over 200 different martinis....and ME!!!!

Hey, errrybody...

Yo, yo, yo... who's in CT?  Who's in Bridgeport?  You may want to bring it on down to this.  I hear some of Bridgeport's finest are coming to The Bijou Theatre on Saturday night, February 16th, 2013 at 8PM to see lil' ole Me!!

It's Valentine's Week.  What else would I POSSIBLY be doing?  And since we're all friends, I know you've got that week pretty open too. I think I have a few things left I could get off of my chest in honor of the "holiday".   It'll just be me and the wonderful Elliot Roth on piano, so come on down, New Englanders, and come on UP, New Yorkers (it's a really short drive from the city).

Tix at cheap too.  $15 for regular seating and $20 for cabaret-style seating.... (I always need a table.  Ushers frown on leaving martini glasses in the aisle.)  The doors open at 7PM and the show is at 8PM.

I hope you can make it!!!  Tell your CT friends....and I'll show 'em a good time.

The Bijou Theatre is located....

I'm heading back to Duane Park, y'all.  Tuesday night, January 29th at 8PM.  Elliot Roth and I are working hard rehearsing a list of songs comprised totally from requests that YOU sent in.

My inbox has been flooded in the last few weeks with song ideas, requests, old youtube videos, and scraps of sheet music from each of you.  I promised I'd do your requests, and I promised to find a way to throw a story around them .  We got so many requests, we've got enough to put together two shows.  So, let's wait until Spring for that one!!!

If you're in town, come check out "Total Request Live" at Duane Park.  157 Duane Street (between Hudson and West Broadway)  It's FREE!!!  You can come and hang at the bar or you can make an actual reservation and have dinner during the show (The food here is LEGENDARY!!!).  (212) 732-5555 or email DuanePark@earthlink.net.  I hope you can make it.

Peace and Love,
JJJr

Well, I'm just pleased as punch to tell you, I'm bringing a stripped down, bluesy version of my show to the ever-swanky Tribeca burlesque hit, Duane Park.

Here's the press-release for "Class".  I hope you can make it.... You have no excuse.  It's FREE!!!

*************FREE!!!*************

Another great evening of gender defying songs, ramblings from the pages of his leather-bound diary, and an evening like no other.  There will be Living!

He's been called "too little".  He's been called "too much".  His jeans have definitely been called "too tight".  But there's always been an air of class about him.  Well, he's back and he's learned a few things this time around, children.  After amazing audiences at Los Angeles'
Lyric Theatre, James can safely report "The west coast was nothing but kind".  Join James, Tuesday, November 27 @8PM for a night of new music in this amazingly intimate setting.  We're taking away the band and leaving him with just a piano, tickled by the smooth and sultry Elliot Roth.  The show will be directed by Gerry Geddes.  It's time for the blues, the jazz... the fire, and the rain.  If you didn't know story-telling was an art, you've never seen a single one of James' shows.  If you missed him at Joe's Pub or Drom, be sure to see what tonight has in store!

I am so happy to bring my show to Los Angeles.  The Lyric Theatre has given me the chance to piece together a new show and see if the kids out west think I have anything important to talk about.  We're calling it "Hello California".  I'm going to pretend I've never been before and see it goes this time.  I'm going to be there for a week.  The show is on Friday night, September 14th at 9PM.  Can't wait!!!  What should I do while I'm there?

I am so happy to be able to do another one of these on-stage therapy sessions!!

This time we're back at DROM in Mahattan's East Village.  Does anyone remember when this place was Opaline back in the day?  Either way, I loved it then and I love it now.  I can't wait.  The boys in the band are thoroughly excited too.  So much so that my amazingly talent piano play, Elliot Roth, will be doing a quick set before the show.  Come on down and check us out.

Like leaving your impression, albeit in bright yellow spray paint, on an otherwise understated brick wall, I wanna have a therapy session about the impressions we leave on each other, good or bad.  In the end, I'm only going to remember the way you made me feel, right?  So, while I've got the chance to be a bit more vocal about it....let's sing a few songs.

Oh my....

It seems as though I'm heading back to Joe's Pub on Sunday, April 15th at 7:30PM.  I can't wait.

This time we're gonna try to keep it happy.  I'm tired of singing all those sad songs.

Can I actually keep you interested for a 90 minutes of Joy???

Want tickets?  Of course you do!!!  Click HERE and get it started.  See you at the show!!!

Powerful pop vocalist? That's open for discussion. What do you think?

It's gonna be a Happy New Year after all. I'm playing Joe's Pub, ya'll. "James Jackson,Jr...and other lies" is about to be chock full of a 2nd dose of nonsense. Last time I was searching for "freedom" through song. This time....Well...This time I'm wearing heels.

Aretha, Tina Turner, bathrobes, and more guest stars than you've ever experienced. You have to come. It's Sunday, January 29th at 9:30 PM. Joe's Pub is at 425 Lafayette Street, New York.

Here are your poster options......
See you soon!!!!!

Joel Derfner's hilariously funny 2009 book "Swish: My Quest to Become The Gayest Person Ever and What Ended Up Happening Instead" is something you have to read.

I read it. I laughed. I yelled. I looked up the big words I didn't know in the dictionary. And I also go to sing my face off in the reading he just put together last month of it's next incarnation....a musical...at NYU and directed by the ever fabulous Andrew Volkoff.

Also, check out Joel's equally hysterical and poignant blog, "The Search For Love In Manhattan"

Come see the shenanigans. Friday night, October 14th, 9PM @ DROM, 85 Avenue A (btw 5th & 6th Streets)

You wouldn't want to miss this for the world! Monarch Presents has raised the dead!!!

It's been a secret to most that there's been a blog that's been happening for years. I thought we'd include (read: "Censor") some things from ye' olde www.JamesJacksonJr.Blogspot.com and see how that flies.

In the interest of next month's concert "James Jackson, Jr. ...Is Alive & Well", I'm going to need a place to jot down some ideas and get some things off my chest. Sometimes I have something I need to say. Sometimes I have something you need to see. And sometimes I just don't believe in paper.
